Kia ora, welcome to our Social Pinpoint page.
Section 34 of the Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area Act 2008 (the act) says that every 5 years Council must monitor and report on:
Earlier reports were produced in 2013 and 2018. The reports track changes over time and provide a platform to consider future challenges and opportunities.
We want to hear from you
One of the heritage features identified in the act is the heritage area’s distinctive local communities.
We would like to hear your views on the heritage area, specifically how you value, use and look after it, what your concerns are, and what you would like it to be like in the future.
Your feedback will inform WRHA2023.
Consultation is open until 30 November 2022, 5pm.
To get started
When you open the Social Pinpoint page, you can see there is a layer button on your right-hand side, it gives you the option to turn the Waitākere Ranges layer on and off, and an ‘Eastern Foothills’ layer on and off.
You can also find three “pins” on the top of the page:
I like doing this in the heritage area because…
I am concerned about this thing in in the heritage area because…
If I could change one thing in the heritage area it would be…
You can use these pins to share your views on living in or visiting the heritage area.
When you zoom in on the map you will see a clear view the heritage area. Some places in the heritage area will be named, for example, ‘Cornwallis’ as shown below.
You can then drag pins to a location to share your views.
For example, you can drag the pin to a location and tell us why you like the area by leaving a comment, e.g. I like to volunteer here because I am interested in protecting the environment.
Similarly, if you have concerns about a particular location, you can drag the pin to it and tell us why in the ‘free text’ box.
If you can think of one thing you would change in the heritage area, you can drag thepin to that place and tell us more details.
You can drag pins to multiple places on the map. Please note that some places may not have an name, but you can identify them when you zoom in and place pins there.
If you cannot find the specific place which you want to tell us about you can still place pins within the relevant area.
You can share additional feedback by filling in the feedback form, or you can use it to give all of your feedback. Click here to fill out the feedback form.
